Hooked On Phonics Review and Giveaway-CLOSED

No matter how many things I have on my plate, such as blogging and working.  My main priority in life is to teach my daughter anything and everything I possibly can. I am always looking for quality educational materials to introduce to my little one. Whether it is reading, writing, computer programs, science or math, I always have this saying printed in my mind "No child is to young to learn anything". As much as I love reading to her every day, I still wanted some kind of reading program to guide me to teach her effectively. So, my first primary issue was to find a reading method to teach my daughter how to read appropriately and accurately.

I received Hooked on Phonics Learn-to-Read Pre-K level 1 and 2 for review.  The Pre-K levels are designed to help build phonemic awareness and teach beginning reading skills. This program is geared towards Pre-schoolers (ages 3 to 4 year olds). I was ready to start this program on my daughter and fully read all the directions that came along with the package. Hooked on Phonics helps children build phonemic awareness, learn letter recognition, and understand the association of letters with their letter sounds. This makes it easier for your little one to understand and slowly learn how to read effectively and appropriately.
The learn to read package includes:
6 original storybooks written to promote the skills your child learns in the program, including 2 books by the award-winning children’s book author and illustrator, David McPhail
2 workbooks that will guide you and your child through all of the lessons and many fun activities
2 DVDs filled with music videos and fun introductions to each lesson, where letters come to life
Quick Start Guide
2 sets of stickers to proudly display in the workbooks and celebrate reading success
4 sets of letter and picture flash cards designed to reinforce letter names and letter sounds
I am currently working with Sophia on the Pre-K level 1 work book and so far so good. She enjoys seeing the alphabet  letters in the work book and automatically started to sing the ABC song.  I then followed the directions to watch the DVD and that is when she had so much fun. She loves the songs and the characters. The DVD is very engaging and interactive, which was very handy and easy for her to look at. She automatically knew that the words sound alike.  She kept on repeating "Mouse and House", "Cat and Hat" and so on.  Sophia loves the books, because she notices that some of the words were rhyming as well. She really had a blast with those books.  Each lesson only takes 20 minutes which is really good so you do not overdo it.  It really is amusing to see how affective this program can be if you have time and patience to work with your child. Working with my little one made me really happy because I can tell she enjoys it and she is learning.

Benihana Review and Giveaway-CLOSED

As much as I love eating a home cooked meal, I love going out and eating at a nice restaurant even more. We are a family that enjoys all types of dishes and we love to try out anything that looks and tastes amazing.  I am a big fan of Benihana, it is always entertaining and I love their different style of cooking. So, when I was given the opportunity to do a review on Benihana dishes, I was thrilled and accepted the offer. We went and tried Benihana’s Chef Special Filet Mignon for Two. The tenderloin is lightly seasoned and grilled to perfection served with Benihana onion soup, Benihana salad, shrimp appetizer,  hibachi vegetables, homemade dipping sauces, steamed rice and Japanese hot green tea. This is a huge multi-course meal. If you haven't been to Benihana before, here is what happens: "At the heart of the Benihana experience is the teppanyaki table, around which guests gather and enjoy a meal expertly prepared and cooked to perfection on a steel grill, right before their eyes — by a chef who is as much entertainer as culinary master".  Not only was the food scrumpcious, but the experience is unforgettable and memorable! Sophia loved when our chef created a volcano and flipped the food on her plate. She thought it was a game and we had to tell her not to throw it back at the chef!
Benihana is the leader of Japanese-themed restaurant chains in the world. Here is a little bit more about Benihana restaurants: They are a traditional Japanese hibachi steakhouse, which feature the Japanese cooking method known as "teppanyaki." From mouth-watering steak, tender chicken, succulent seafood and garden-fresh vegetables to a variety of sushi and other Japanese favorites, your meal is prepared fresh and served by a performing chef, right before your eyes".

Here is Benihana’s June Chef’s Special:

This special is served with Benihana onion soup, Benihana salad, hibachi shrimp appetizer, hibachi vegetables, homemade dipping sauces, steamed rice and Japanese hot green tea. Bring family and friends and enjoy the time eating delicious food while getting entertained at the same time.
